Cookie Days

Did you see any Burnaby Mountain Girl Guides out selling cookies during the official Cookie Days in Canada this past weekend? Our girls were out in various places in the community that weekend and on other days this month. Several units still have cookies available, so keep your eyes out!

Our 2nd Sparks were at the Save-on-Foods on North Road and did a fantastic job selling. It was a beautiful weekend for selling.

Cookie sales help power our awesome Girls First programming, helping to cover costs for camps and sleepovers, outings, guest speakers, meeting supplies, and more.

The 22nd Guides took on busy Lougheed Skytrain station and also did wonderfully, selling lots of cookies. Look at those big cookie smiles 🙂

Did you know Girl Guides has a cookie selling rewards program called Cookie All-Stars? Girls who go above and beyond with their cookie sales can earn cool prizes. We have at least one girl in the district with her eyes on the top prize for selling at least 80 cases of cookies this year! Good luck with all your goals, girls!

Cookie Day Spring 2017

This past weekend girls from all units in Burnaby Mountain District were out selling cookies in the community. It was the national Cookie Days in Canada and our units could be found at local grocery stores and sky train stations selling their tasty treats.

Below are the 54th Brownies at Lougheed station. We love those big smiles — it was a cold rainy day, and girls all around the district were great spirits about being out selling cookies.

Spring cookie season is well under way, but last we heard all units still have some cookies left. Get yours before they’re gone! If you missed us this weekend, there will be girls at Lougheed station on several occasions over the next couple of weeks. Or maybe we’ll catch you door-to-door. Oh, and don’t forget to ask the leaders you see about how to join our units for next year — registration for 2017-2018 opens soon to new members!

Chocolatey Mint Cookie Sales

Over the Thanksgiving weekend, girls from all units in Burnaby Mountain District participated in a cookie blitz at several local locations. Girls sold chocolately mint Girl Guide Cookies at Save on Foods, Dollar Tree, Independent Grocers, Nestor’s Market SFU, Production Way Skytrain and Lougheed Skytrain.

Even though the weather was pretty cold and rainy, girls were in great spirits as they sold the delicious treats to shoppers as they passed by. Some made up chants or songs on the spot, while others stuck to the traditional “would you like to buy some Girl Guide Cookies?”

Some of the girls are very goal-oriented. Girls from the 22nd Guides, for example, were not shy about advertising that their cookie sales are going towards a trip to Victoria in the new year. There are also girls in the district selling cookies to help them fundraise for SOAR 2017, a week long provincial camp this summer in Smithers, BC.

Other great Guiding activities supported by cookie sales in Burnaby Mountain District will include sleepovers and camps, including a district sleepover at the BC Sports Hall of Fame this spring!

Thank you to all the local businesses who supported Guiding by allowing us to sell in front of your locations, and thank you as well to all the hard working volunteers who took time time out of their busy long weekend to sell cookies with the girls.

Rangers Selling Cookies

Plenty of units in Burnaby Mountain District still have delicious Chocolatey Mint Girl Guide Cookies available for sale. Girls from the 12th Rangers have been out in the community selling to hungry customers.

What kinds of things might a Ranger group do with money raised from cookies sales? Rangers might go tent camping, or kayaking. They might go to see a movie, or out to the ballet. They might go eat a fancy meal or check out a food truck festival. They might be saving for a trip to Europe, or a bicycle trip through the province. They might want to try a new skill like scuba diving or jewelry making. In short, the possibilities are endless. 12 Rangers Cookies

What will these girls do with their cookie money? Stay tuned on the district website and maybe you’ll find out. Whatever they get up to, it will involve girl greatness, fun, and friendship. Happy sales, Rangers!

Classic Cookie Blitz Day

The Spring cookie campaign is well under way in Burnaby Mountain. Many units have already sold all their cookies, and even District is running low on its supply!1 Sparks Cookies

Yesterday girls from most units in the district came out to sell cookie in a true blitz style throughout the district. It would have been hard to be out in public yesterday in Burnaby Mountain District and not have come across our girls. Units were selling from 10:00-4:00 at Save-On-Foods North Road, Wal-Mart Lougheed Mall, Independent Foods North Road, Sears Outlet on Lougheed, Dollar Tree at Cameron, and Nestor’s Market at SFU.

Cookies sold really well across the campaign and it was great to have our girls out and about being seen. The weather mostly cooperated though it was chilly and blustery for part of the day.

Thank you to all the girls who came to sell, to the leaders who organized and supervised them, and to the local businesses who supported Girl Guides by letting us sell outside your stores.
